SUCCESS ... ACHIEVING MY GOAL

I finally finished the 11 quilts for the grandbabies... finishing the hand stitching on the binding of the last quilt on the 23rd. of December. 
I learned to enjoy the process, and the creativeity aspects of quilting.
With a new year comes new goals... finish more of my UFO's , learn to do free motion quilting with my machine and use up as many of my scraps as possible before we move. I havn't thrown any scrap out.. so needless to say I have lots, it should be fun to see what I can do with them.
And of course take a few more classes before we are gone from this area. I'm looking forward to this year!!
Oh! also learn to take better pictures ... some of the pictures to follow are not very good .

HANNA'S - CHRISTMAS QUILT - 2010

Hanna's quilt is a "Turning Twenty" variation design, quilt pattern by Trica Cribbs. I chose her flowers to keep the round shape of her favorite, the polka dot fabric . 

OLIVIA'S & WILLOW'S -CHRISTMAS QUILTS -2010

Willow

Willow's and Olivia's quilts are the same pattern using the same fabrics,only changing the border colours to their favorite colour choices.

Their quilt is based on a quilt "Puzzel Play" using a brick block arranged pinwheel style.

Found in Better Homes & Gardens "Quilts & More" spring 2009 magazine. I chose their applique based on a fabric with the same twirl as on the flower.

EMMA'S - CHRISTMAS QUILT -2010

Emma's quilt just evolved... I knew I wanted to do pinwheels and rail fence blocks...The pattern took shape on my design wall as I played with different positions of the blocks. Her applique follows the pinwheel block with the pinwheel appliqued flowers. The hardest thing about Emma's was working with the colours, as I have a harder time with Yellow...but it worked really well with the raspberry pink because of the fabrics, I was able to find. Emma's was a fun one to do.

LINCOLN'S - CHRISTMAS QUILT- 2010

Lincoln's quilt is the same pattern as Jackson's "Big & Bold" by Daniela Stoot. These blocks are a bit bigger so no border was added. Jenie wants to do Lincoln's room in knights... so I added a sword and sheild applique to his.

JACKSON'S -CHRISTMAS QUILT - 2010

Jackson's is a pattern "Big & Bold" by Daniela Stoot.
It's pretty simple and works up quickly... Jackson loves sports, and played both Soccer and T-Ball this past year... so I appliqued a ball and bat and soccer ball to personalize his quilt.

BRYTON'S - CHRISTMAS QUILT -2010

Bryton's quilt is my version of a quilt I saw hanging in a quilt shop in Raymond. I used 4 snow ball blocks to make the posies... with the green center triangles being larger than the outer background triangles around the assorted pink squares. The applique is a "B" in one corner so as not to take away from any of the posies.
